(The Peacock Angel may have cried for seven thousand years.) The all-merciful Creator forgave the Peacock Angel, who was reinstated as chief angel. The Peacock Angel now supervises the world on behalf of the Creator. The Peacock Angel is a title, not a name. It is a direct translation of Melek Taus, which translates as “Peacock Angel” or.

Melek Taus (Kurdish: مەلیک تاووس,Tawusê Melek ‎), also spelled Malik Tous, translated cult of the peacock angel book English as Peacock Angel, is one of the central figures of Yazidi Yazidi creation stories, God created the world and entrusted it to the care of seven Holy Beings, often known as Angels or heft sirr ('the Seven Mysteries'), preeminent of which is Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock Angel.

The Yezidis believe that they possess the oldest religion on Earth, the primeval faith that features Tawsi Melek, and that all other traditions are related to them through the Peacock Angel. They contend that Tawsi Melek is the true creator and ruler of the universe, and therefore a part of all religious traditions.

The Peacock Angel has been falsely accused of being Satan or the Devil for hundreds of years by Muslim theologians. It appears that this distortion regarding Tawsi Melek may have been generated by an Islamic defamation crusade against the Yezidis, initiated by the Muslim view that the Yezidis are not “People of the Book,” meaning that there is no revealed scripture at the center of their religion.

The Peacock Angel, however, is not just God's Regent for the Yezidis alone, but belongs to the entire world. The Yezidis believe that they preserve the oldest religion on earth, the primeval faith taught by Tawûsê Melek himself, and that all other traditions are related through the Peacock Angel's.

According to the Book of Jubilees (ii 2) there are three well-marked orders, two supreme, viz. the angels of the presence (cf. also Jub. ii 18, xv 27, xxxi 14), and the angels of sanctification, and a third inferior order, viz.

Empson, Ralph Horatio Woolnough, ; Temple, Richard Carnac, Sir, 2nd baronet,   "Peacock Angel" is the customary translation of "Melek Taus", the divinity honored by the Yazidi.

According to Daraul, the English version of the cult was brought to Britain in by a Syrian whose name is only known to initiates. In one of the holy books of the Mandaeans the Peacock Angel, called by them Malka Tausa, is portrayed as a spirit concerned with the destinies of this world, a prince of the world of light who, because of a divinely appointed destiny, plunged into the darkness of matter.
